Paul Brienen is the Engineer of Record for this ten-story work loft and storage facility with two levels of parking. Urban Storage and Worklofts is located adjacent to Interstate 5 and the old Rainier Brewery.
The lateral system is a concrete core wall system, utilizing an innovative coupling beam reinforcing system, developed and patented by Paul Brienen specifically for minimizing coupling beam depth in high-rise construction.
The vertical system is steel-framed with concrete floors. A full-floor steel-framed cantilevered truss supports the northeast corner of the building where site conditions inhibited a more conventional column layout.
