Located near the Naval Observatory in NW Washington, D.C., this residence underwent a significant renovation, transforming from a traditional two-story gabled home into a contemporary structure. SGI Structural played a vital role in supporting KUBE Architecture’s vision, facilitating the integration of a modern rear addition.

A key aspect of the design is the innovative use of steel concealed within the floor cavity. This structural solution enabled the installation of floor-to-ceiling glazing that wraps the cantilevered additions, creating a striking visual effect of volumes floating above grade.

The collaboration between SGI Structural and KUBE Architecture revitalized the property, achieving a refined balance between modern design and structural performance. The result reflects a shared commitment to architectural excellence and innovation.
