This structure is a conversion of an existing three-story building into a nine-unit, five-story R2 occupancy. SGI Structural designed the structural framing for this conversion using a combination of framing techniques and underpinned the existing structure to accommodate a new basement level.
The team worked closely with the developer and architect to support the demolition of the existing concrete floor decks while maintaining stability through temporary bracing of the retained exterior walls. SGI Structural also conducted ongoing reviews of field reports related to underpinning operations to ensure close alignment between design intent and construction execution.
